Allergen note
Egg is one of the most common food allergens. Offer well-cooked egg from around 6 months, starting small and watching for hives, swelling or vomiting; once tolerated, keep it in your baby's diet a few times a week. With severe eczema or a known allergy, talk to your pediatrician first.
How to serve
At 6–8 months, offer hard-boiled egg cut lengthwise into quarters, or finger-length strips of a thin, well-cooked omelet. From 9 months, offer small pieces of scrambled or chopped hard-boiled egg; toddlers can have egg in sandwiches, fried rice or vegetable muffins.
Preparation
Cook eggs until both the white and yolk are firm: hard-boil for about 10–12 minutes, and cook scrambled egg or omelet until no runny egg remains. For a smooth start, mash hard-boiled egg with breast milk, formula or avocado, and skip the salt.
Texture and choking risk
Hard-boiled yolk is dry and crumbly and can stick to the mouth and throat. Mash or moisten it, never offer a whole hard-boiled egg, give sips of water from an open cup with meals, keep your baby seated upright and always supervise.

Starting ages are typical guidance for healthy, full-term babies who show signs of readiness. Your paediatrician may advise differently, especially where there is a family history of allergy.
